cd-circleprint - calibration info for c5380

If you're using a HP Photosmart C5380 All-in-One printer to print on a CD, you might find it useful to use the following cd-circleprint configuration file when using mainly A4 paper format.

delta 20.0
begin_from_bottom 7.5
viewer /usr/bin/evince
converter convert
radius_inner 21
tickmarks 1
print_circle_boundaries 1
begin_from_left[0] 1.5
begin_from_left[1] 1.5
number_of_labels 2
debug 0
circle_radius[0][0] 50
circle_radius[0][1] 41
circle_radius[0][2] 41
circle_radius[0][3] 50
circle_radius[1][0] 50
circle_radius[1][1] 41
circle_radius[1][2] 41
circle_radius[1][3] 50
x_scale 1
y_scale 1

I am unsure if usually using A4 paper format changes anything, but the .ps file cd-circleprint creates uses A4 on my system.

Does anyone knows a decent editor for CD artwork?

two questions,
first, how do I use cd-circleprint anyway? must I invoke it from the command line?
second, how do I print to the cd tray instead of an A4 page?
the hplip package appears to have the settings, but I just can't seem to get them to send the output to the cd tray.

P.S: perhaps we can work together to find a common solution?

judging from what files are in the package, yes, you need to invoke it from the command line or via the "start application" applet.

I don't know which printer model you have, but in my case (HP C5380) I have to lower the CD tray, put the CD in and (I think) I have to select in the printing dialog of evince the "CD-tray" as the tray to be used.

In my case the built-in instructions of the printer (printer's display) are useful too.

what do you have in mind?

I find the limitation of just a few labels, well, limiting :-) .

I would rather have some sort of helpers or masks in GIMP or some simple app that can allow editing the the graphics on the CD by always presenting the mask and making sure (behind the scenes) that it always produce the proper alignment, scale and geometric physical size of the CD in a PS or PDF resulting document.
