This was a ton of fun

This past saturday I passed by this man in the park. He was calling and feeding some squirrels.

He was kind enough to give me some walnuts to call the squirrels myself. He did this without even me asking.

It was such a wonderful experience for me, especially since the last squirrel gently touched my index finger while trying to get the walnut from my hand. Its paw was so cold and it felt very smooth and gentile.

I don't know when, but I will definitely go with a bag of walnuts of my own and spend some time there.

Yeah, yeah, squirrels are beautfiul. The little pests.

I live meters away from Mexico's main University. The campus is so big that it hosts a natural reserve in it, and is probably the greenest area in Southern Mexico City.

And it has plenty of squirrels. And my house has a little garden. So, my house has... a pest of squirrels.

Fortunately, the little buggers don't dare venture inside the house (where my cats reign, and they would have no place to quickly jump to), but they munch the garden plants, they have basically killed a couple of trees... A pest.

There is a very nice and big park nearby, "viveros de Coyoacán". It has signs everywhere asking people _not_ to feed the squirrels, as it damages our ecosystem. Of course, if you go on a Sunday, lots of kids still feeds them peanuts and whatnot...

And I won't deny it - The squirrels are beautiful. Still, think of it: Isn't their beauty the main thing that sets them apart from rats? Would you be happy about feeding and petting their ugly cousins?

Still, glad you had fun :-}
